Key to Surviving Winter Storm Juno: Rothco Gear

Well, we survived Winter Storm Juno here in the Northeast despite wind gusts as high as 95 mph, snow as deep as 3 feet, 6 states declaring a state of emergency and 4 states instating a travel ban. While the day off from work was quite enjoyable, for me, it also came with a great deal of time spent outside; mostly shoveling snow.

With the storm on the way, I decided to purchase for myself some Rothco gear because what's the good of working at the world's foremost supplier of military & outdoor products if you don't exercise your perks? So, I got myself a pair of the Rothco Cold Weather Hiking Boots which are easily the best boots I've ever owned (granted I've owned maybe 4 pairs of boots my entire life). I chose these boots because they are distinctly pedestrian and most of the boots we make are military boots but primarily, I chose these boots because they are waterproof. I spent all day with these boots on and my feet stayed both dry and warm.

I purchased a Rothco Watch Cap, which worked as well as you'd like a wool cap to. I also got a chance to wear my Rothco Heavy Weight Plaid Flannel, which I bought as part of my Halloween costume but wore throughout the day Tuesday and if anything, I could have done with one less layer of clothing as the flannel kept my quite warm all day.

I'm very glad I picked up some Rothco gear for the past storm; between the Rothco gear and my 1992 Jeep, I was barely affected by the weather at all. My only regret was that I didn't pick up a pair of gloves because the pair I had was soaked through two hours into my day and, even prior to that, didn't provide my hands with the warmth one would like.

Rothco's Medium Transport Pack - The Pack Everyone Should Have

My nephew likes his as much as I like mine.
There are over 4,000 items made by Rothco, but hands down, my favorite item has to be the Medium Transport Pack. Why, you may ask, is this guy so thrilled with a backpack? Well while I by no means fashion myself a backpack expert, I have been through my fair share of backpacks in my life and the Rothco Medium Transport Pack is by far the best. There are a few key features that make this pack my favorite; narrow profile, versatility, and durability.

The narrow profile on this pack means you don’t have to worry about it snagging on anything if you’re hiking through the woods or even just pushing through a crowded city. It also means full range of motion for your arms so if you’re on a bike or kayaking across the bay, you’re in no way impeded by the pack.

In terms of versatility, it can be used for anything; it looks pretty cool with over a dozen different colors, but it also has MOLLE straps so if you’re using it as a bug out bag (like the one seen below) you could attach any number of things to the pack. For such a small pack, it also holds a crazy amount of stuff; great for lugging half a dozen text books around a college campus or filling it full of survival gear for a bug out bag.

I use my pack whenever I travel and it has passed every test I've put it through; from trips across the country to hikes through the woods. I've stuffed the pack to, what appears to be, the max (much to the dismay of my back) and hadn't noticed any rips or damage. I like this pack so much that I bought myself a second one, and bought a few as Christmas gifts for family & friends. If you don’t believe me, take a look at some of the reviews from customers or pick one up and try it out for yourself.

Rothco Breaks Another Record With Holiday Charity Donations

For over a decade Rothco's team members have come together during the holiday season to raise money for local charities; and this year was no different.

Here at Rothco we realize how fortunate we are and are always looking for ways to give back to the community we call home. That is why we take our holiday charity program so seriously. Each year we set out to beat last year's total contributions because we know how important it is for everyone to have a happy holiday and how far a dollar can go when you have your company matching the donations by 3X!

And it is with great honor - I get to say WE DID IT!!!  With 136 of Rothco's employees donating towards 10 select local charities and Rothco matching those donations by 3X, together as a group we were able to raise over $200,000!

A 100% of the $202,400 we raised as company was given to 10 local charities. Below is more information on the charities Rothco has donated. For more information on the listed charities - please check out their sites.
