Military Pants for Everyday Use

Rothco's classic B.D.U. pants (taken straight from the “Battle Dress Uniform” the military used from over 20 years) are some of the most versatile pants in the marketplace. In fact, much of the clothing and gear we manufacture here at Rothco is military designed or inspired but are used for so much more. Take a look at where else our classic B.D.U. pant is used:

Public Safety Personnel – Rothco BDU Pants come in dozens of colors and patterns including Navy Blue and Midnite Blue, which are very popular with public safety officials from EMT to Police. Couple that with the durability of the pants and all its features and you’ve got a great match.

EDC/Camping – The BDU Pants have 2 large cargo pockets which will fit a surprising amount of gear (multi-tool, survival/medical kit, ammo, knife, etc) which make them great for EDC. The action pleat stitching on the pants also gives them greater freedom of motion, making them very comfortable for camping or hiking.

Shooting/Combat Training – With pants that were designed for the military it’s no surprise that they’re favored for combat and tactical training, shooting, and even airsoft and paintball. With reinforced seat and knees, the pants will hold up even if you’re sliding or diving about. The adjustable waist tabs also ensure the pants are secure even without a belt (although I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be wearing a belt).

Casual-wear – Aside from all the function of the pants, they also look great; couple a pair of camouflage BDU pants with a solid shirt or graphic t-shirt or wear a pair of solid BDU Pants with a camo or flannel shirt and you’ve got yourself a sharp, casual getup.

These are but a few of the uses for our versatile military BDU pants; the quality you'd expect from pants designed for the military with the comfort for everyday life.

#GivingTuesday...See How Rothco Gives Back

During this busy holiday season, Rothco makes sure we remember to help out the less fortunate. Which is why #GivingTuesday - a recent social movement which encourages people to give back, is so fitting for Rothco's Holiday Charity Programs.

In addition to our holiday charity program which raised over 200,000 last year (and we hope to raise even more this year!) for local charities; Rothco also makes a point to donate turkeys for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. This past week Rothco donated dozens of Turkeys to local families in need. Rothco realizes how fortunate we are and how important it is to give back to the community we live in.

Rothco's Charity Spotlight: Angela's House

For over a decade, Rothco and its employees have come together during the holiday season to raise money for local charities from Long Island, NY (Rothco's Hometown Area). Here at Rothco we realize how fortunate we are and are always looking for ways to give back to the community. Not only do we want to help financially, we also want people to be aware of these great causes. That is why we have asked several of the charities to highlight who they are and what they do.

This month we wanted to highlight Angela's House

Angela’s House assists families caring for children with special health care needs that are medically fragile, chronically ill or living with a life-threatening illness. We have worked with both the local and federal government to create programs that can provide supports for parents that want to care for their medically frail children at home. Though our Care at Home Program, Angela’s House outreaches to and assists over 600 children and families on Long Island.

This program was created thanks to a great deal of creativity and persistence. Thanks to a special exception within the Medicaid program, Angela's house is able to help both low and middle-income families on Long Island get support for their medically fragile child and enable them to live at home, instead of in a hospital. The federal government realized our Care at Home program provides a win-win situation, in that it gets children out of hospital (which reduces re-occurrence of illness and allows for a more typical life) and saves a great deal of money at the same time. Our wonderful family support service providers and staff of nurses and case managers work tirelessly to ensure that each of our Angela’s House children has access to the best quality of life for them and their families.

For children that cannot live at home, Angela’s House runs three state-of-the-art residences, which care for a total of 23 children.  These homes provide 24-hour specialized nursing care and a warm, loving environment for our medically frail children.  These specialty homes are the only ones in the existence area. These homes are a wonderful alternative for medically fragile children and their families, as their only other options would be to live out-of-state or in a hospital full-time. Our newest home, which opened in 2013 in Stony Brook, fills a huge gap in New York State’s health care service delivery system. This home offers 24-hour, long-term nursing and medical care option for children that are ventilator-dependent. The eight children at Angela’s House III would otherwise call a hospital or an out-of-state nursing facility home, as they cannot be cared for at home.

The ailments, conditions, disabilities of children of Angela’s House can’t be described using one term.  The children often have multiple illnesses or challenges, and often have other related complications. This summer we logged many of the different diagnoses of the children we assist and we narrowed it down to 200.  These disabilities, accidents or common/rare diseases have so many variations within them and unique characteristics and difficulties.

Celebrating Our Veterans: A Thanks From Rothco

Today we celebrate the Veterans of the United States Armed Forces; we honor their service to our nation and that sacrifices they have made in order to secure the freedom that we enjoy on a daily basis. I image everyone knows at least one veteran and so, for many, this is a personal day in which we should remember to personally thank those who have served our nation with honor and bravery.

The sacrifices and service of these veterans are not lost on Rothco; we’ve developed a strong partnership with Suffolk County United Veterans, one of the several local charities Rothco supports, an organization that assists homeless veterans and those who struggle with problems of all kinds. For the past several years, Rothco and its employees have made the Suffolk County United Veterans one of the charities in our Holiday Charity Program. It’s important not only to thank those who serve but to support them if they are in need of assistance, as they have supported us in protecting our nation.

So make sure you thank a veteran today for their service and if you’re interested in doing more you can find more information on the Suffolk County United Veterans Project here.
