East Coast Swarmageddon

Right now the east coast of the United States is under attack from creatures emerging from the ground like some primordial ooze. And while it sounds like a plot to the latest summer blockbuster, it is actually just another one of mother nature's many "gifts" that we get to unwrap every 17 years.

Known as the East Coast II brood, these cicadas emerge in the spring time and can even stay around till July! They are currently taking up residence up and down the East Coast, from the Carolinian's to New Jersey and New York. In fact the image to the left is an actual live map of their sightings.

These "creatures" for the most part are harmless, unless you count the sound assault they will commit to your ears. There is however some things you can do during the invasion to deal with the problem. An article posted in our Facebook dealer forum (Rothco dealers - if you are not a member find out how to join here) was posted and it discussed how you should stock up on netting (it's not just for mosquitoes) & ear plugs to deal with the

So East Coast are these bugs bugging you yet? Are you prepping for their invasion?

Jack's Back

Not to many TV shows come back from the dead but if any show knows a thing or two about bringing back things from the dead its 24, well that and of course the Walking Dead but we will save a post about that show for another time!

So how many of you are excited for the return of this historic show? I know I am, and what I am even more excited about is to see whether or not Jack returns with his Rothco Classic Messenger Bag aka "The Jack Bauer Bag". Jack famously wore Rothco's messenger bag throughout season 5 of the show, one could even say he made the E.D.C famous that season and with a bag like that, how could he not!
Style 9148

Rothco's Vintage Classic Messenger Bag is ideal for anyone, whether you are fighting terror or just textbooks, its large size [15" x 11" x 6"] it the perfect fit to carry all your needs. In addition to its 3 outside pockets, the bag also has an interior zipper pouch. It is also constructed from a heavy weight canvas that is extremely durable and makes for the perfect bag. And if you feel like sporting a different color than Jack - checkout Rothco entire collection, a lot has changed since 2006 and we now carry 15 colors of this very bag!

Here's to the countdown to the return of 24!

Breaking Some Ground at Rothco

A little before and after shot of the field
Earlier this spring, Rothco broke ground on a new 60,000 sq foot expansion of our current warehouse facilities in Ronkonkoma, New York. This additional 60,000 sq ft. will allow Rothco to serve our dealers even better and give us the opportunity to stock even more product! Just imagine all the great gear that will line those future shelves. From camo and paracord to tactical backpacks and survival gear.

The "roller" a.k.a the building shaker
Right now we are at the first stages of the development, clearing the trees and ground. There is even a machine that is flattening the ground that is currently shaking the entire office as I type! And this week it looks like they are digging what I can only assume to be the foundation. So stay tuned, because periodically I will be updating the blog with stories of our progress.
